My birthday and Corey's graduation

Sunday March 9th

On the morning of my birthday I headed up to Germany to celebrate with my man and attend Corey's graduation on March 11th.  My flight was scheduled for 9 am so I took the 7 am shuttle from base to the airport. After the flight being delayed a few times they finally cancelled it at about 1015....my flight was scheduled to arrive at 10 am and Corey was already there waiting...ugghhh.... So I had to head to the ticket counter along with everyone else on that flight (mind you one person was working the ticket counter... boooooo!) They rescheduled my flight for 12:45 pm which wasn't a problem except they had me make a stop in Frankfurt! What the heck- Munich was only an hour flight and now I had to stop in Frankfurt and wouldn't arrive in Munich until after 4 pm. But I tried to keep a positive attitude since there wasn't anything I could do at that point. I finally arrived and my sweet husband was there with open arms, a rose, and a birthday card. Poor guy had to hang out in Munich by himself all day while waiting for me. ( I tried to warn him that something always goes wrong on my birthday every year...maybe he'll believe me now :))  He had already gone to the English Gardens that afternoon but was willing to take me again since I had never been and that was our original plan. Well actually the original plan was to go see the castle that inspired Disney...ya know, the "Disney" logo castle.  But it was a far drive from Munich and then from there it would be a 3.5 hour drive back to base. So we scratched that idea and just decided to visit the English Gardens 20 mins from the airport. Well Corey surprised me again and had printed off directions to the castle because he knew I really wanted to go, but because my flight was so late we didn't have time to drive to the castle. Oh well, its the thought that counts.  Ok so we made it to the English Gardens and we were spoiled with a beautiful sunny day! So that made me happy. Then we found a nearby restaurant for dinner. It wasn't anything too special, but I ordered enchiladas (which wasn't your typical enchilada) and Corey ordered some Asian noodles (again not what you're thinking). My food tasted pretty good though and then for dessert (because it was my birthday :)) we ordered an apple fritter with ice cream. Oh and then Corey sang "Happy Birthday" to me and I blew out the candle that was on our table :)

The next evening we had a BBQ at a park on base with his school buddies.  Again, it was a beautiful day and evening. Cold, but sunny :)  We had tons of BBQ food- hot dogs, steak, chicken, chips, dip, potato salad, strawberries, and of course s'mores :) That picture down there is Corey getting my stick ready for roasting my marshmallows! Yay!

The next day was the Big day! Corey's graduation from ALC (Advanced Leadership Course).  Corey received the leadership award and was the distinguished honor graduate!! I was and am still very proud of him.

After graduation we packed up the tiny rental car, a VW Up, and started the trek home. There were 4 of us in that car- Corey, Lopez, Hannah and me. And it was packed full! Right outside of base we stopped at a restaurant for lunch. Again, its hard to find something open in the afternoon but we managed to find one restaurant and I'm glad this particular one was open. The owner was so nice and it was so cute instead. Its a family run business and we got top notch service because we were the only ones there haha. The guys even got to watch him pound the schnitzel back in the kitchen. We got the full tour of that restaurant :)  I finally found a Hawaiian pizza- yay! So I ordered that and Corey had schnitzel.
